Walls Between Waters: Take 2

Festival Date: June 6, 2026

Walls Between Waters will always be held in Ticonderoga, but in 2026 we’ll also bring the transformative power of public art to two additional Essex County communities where Land Bank properties and projects are underway.

Current eligible locations include: North Elba, Jay, Lewis, Willsboro, St. Armand, Westport, and Newcomb.

If your community is on this list, this is your chance to host a stunning work of public art that will inspire residents, attract visitors, and tell your community’s story.

Why Public Art Matters in Blight and Housing Revitalization

At the Essex County Land Bank, we believe that transforming communities means more than repairing buildings — it’s about restoring pride, sparking connection, and creating places people want to call home. Art is a powerful catalyst in this process.

Public art can turn a once-neglected wall into a vibrant landmark, shift perceptions of a hamlet, and signal that a community is on the rise. By integrating murals and creative placemaking into our housing and blight remediation projects, we breathe new life into vacant and underutilized spaces, making them destinations rather than detours. link:

This approach works hand-in-hand with our mission to unlock the untapped potential of blighted properties, revitalize hamlets, and cultivate economic growth. Every restored property — whether a rehabilitated home, a newly constructed residence, or a cleaned-up lot — becomes even more impactful when paired with visible, community-driven art that celebrates local identity.

Through strategic partnerships and resident engagement, we’re not just improving buildings — we’re building belonging. Together, through housing, blight removal, and the transformative power of art, we’re writing a new story for Essex County — one vibrant wall, one revitalized property, and one proud neighborhood at a time.
